Every Mom Must Have A Yummie Tummie

Once I had kids, my whole body changed. Things shifted, expanded, drooped, flabbed, stretched… you get the picture. Working out hasn’t always helped either; I can look and feel great then eat a sandwich and suddenly look 4 months pregnant. The classic stretchy belly. I have to be honest here… even when I do drop a few pounds and my clothes start fitting again, I never feel like I will look the same as I used to. Obviously I know I might never get my pre-baby body back but should that hold me back from wearing my favorite dresses, tops or even pants? It shouldn’t. And what about the sandwich-baby? Perfect example of how you can leave the house looking totally fab only to eat a meal and look, well, totally pregnant. Or what about the “bad days”? why does my body never listen when I want to wear my cute jeans? Oh no… That’s the day I wake up bloated. Sigh.

I can safely say that after I had my first son (8.5 years ago), it was a heck of a lot easier to drop the weight. I was much younger and had more energy back then. But I was faced with a challenging transition period. I’ve always been one of those moms that simply cannot lose the baby weight until my baby is done breastfeeding. I hold on to that last 10-15 pounds until the very end of nursing. During those post-pregnancy/breastfeeding months, my clothes would fit “okay” but that’s ultimately when I started investing in yoga pants and billowy tops; to hide the lingering muffin top. I had no idea what a shaper was back then.

Losing the weight after baby #2 (3.5 years ago) was much more difficult. I suffered from postpartum depression- I didn’t want to leave the house let alone exercise- and it just took longer. I like to blame it on the age card… that’s what everyone does, right?! I was older, much more tired, less motivated, etc. Regardless of all the excuses I still held on to that 10-15 pounds while nursing then got pregnant with #3 before my second stopped breastfeeding.

Here we are, now 16 months after baby #3 and stressing about the additional 10 pounds from baby #2. 10 pounds? not much, right? Wrong. Those 10 pounds are like glue sticking to my ribs… and butt and hips and thighs. My third son has just weaned and I’m officially on a mission. A mission to drop 15-20 pounds.

Luckily, before I started my mission (this time around), I learned about a little piece of heaven called Yummie Tummie. Yummie Tummie is my new BFF. I’m obsessed with it and even do an extra load of laundry, at the most inopportune times, just so I can wear it again and again.

Does my Yummie Tummie Original Tank slims my bumps, lumps and flabby skin? You betcha! And that’s all this mom is asking for while transitioning (and while eating healthier, exercising more, yadda yadda). It’s like my motivator. I see myself, in the mirror, without the extra bumps and I can visualize my goal. Now, I’m not complaining (too much at least) about the last 10-15 pounds but like most every woman/mom out there, I have my goal. I have my ideal weight and a little compliment here and there, along the way, is quite helpful. My Yummie Tummie empowers, compliments, and reminds me what it’s like to fit in my clothes once again.

What I love about the Tanks and Camisoles:

  • It really is an everyday essential for your wardrobe!
  • The Tanks and Camisoles are layerable because the hidden belly panel is the shaper.
  • Tanks and Camis come in original length and long length for layering versatility.
  • Wear your own bra with the Original Tank.
  • Strappy Tanks provide support and can be worn without a bra.
  • Invisible Tanks can be worn without anything over them, they look like a regular tank.

What I don’t like:

  • Nothing.

What I need to mention:

  • Don’t let the price scare you. You will wear your money’s worth out of the Yummie Tummie.
  • I can button my jeans while wearing my Yummie Tummy Original Tank (if I tuck it in).
  • When I wore my Original Tank with leggings or yoga pants, I found it was best to tuck the bottom part in to my pants to reduce the chance of it riding up slightly (slippery fabric on slippery fabric, it’s bound to happen)
  • I need a black one so I can layer it under more tanks this coming summer. The one I have is nude and while it’s great for under clothing, I don’t like to layer with a nude-colored tank.

Yummie Tummie has a wide selection of items like Ready to Wear Clothing, Body Slimmers/Tanks, Slips & Intimates, Bottoms, Men’s Shapewear, a Nursing T Tank and a Survivors Tank.

Also, a little birdie (okay Yummie Tummie is the bird) told me that there will be a denim line, called Yummie by Heather Thomson, and a swim collection, called Yummie Splash coming in 2012! I just wish they had Yummie Splash NOW so I wouldn’t have to stress about swimsuit season this year…
